hello ...

  • Welcome! Here, you'll find creative pursuits of all kinds: paper, photos, paint, fabric, plus a heaping tablespoon of daily life. Lately, I've been addressing questions in the comments section. It's more fun as a conversation -- don't you think? And I do very much appreciate every thoughtful comment.

painting for $$$

Flyer_cropped

Lately I've been purposefully adding elements of the hand to my graphic design projects.  There's an inherent beauty in the uniqueness of something touched; a distinction from computer-generated images that just feels right to me.

After several oil crayon sketches of autumnal images, I landed on this acrylic painted version as the foundation for our school's annual online auction campaign.  Flyers were distributed to parents today in the childrens' take-home folders.

The auction opens for preview on Monday and for bidding next Thursday, and there are some really neat things donated by businesses and individuals in our community up for bid.  Many of the services are geared towards our own area, but it's worth checking out possibly for ideas to adopt for your own fund raisers.  (I'll add that link Monday AM) We've been pretty successful in years past and hope for the same great participation and interest this time around.

That success doesn't come without an enormous effort from one amazing woman who I'm happy to call a friend.  I met Frances Evangelista last year when I called her up out of the blue to say "I want to do the design for the auctions."  It was serendipitous.  We make a good team.  But she is the backbone.  The credit is hers.  She does the outreach and implementation on this one, for sure.  Thanks so much for all you do for our kids, Frances.
