hello ...

  • Welcome! Here, you'll find creative pursuits of all kinds: paper, photos, paint, fabric, plus a heaping tablespoon of daily life. Lately, I've been addressing questions in the comments section. It's more fun as a conversation -- don't you think? And I do very much appreciate every thoughtful comment.

lunar eclipse

Helens_planets_3

[artwork by Helen, age 8]

Look to the skies tonight to view the only total lunar eclipse to take place for the next two years.  Just think what can change in two years!  That's a long time in the life of a child.  This coincides with a moon journal project we've been working on, so we are having a late night with popcorn and hot chocolate.  Hoping the sky is clear here and at your home as well.

You can visit the official NASA lunar eclipse site for the schedule in your time zone and more.

small canvas

June_22_pics03_2

We are having the best time with small canvases around here.  The kids are enjoying the new texture they are experiencing with acrylics and I am amazed and totally in love with the paintings they created.  The freedom they have with the medium is so refreshing and helps remind me to just stay loose with it too.  It's all about the fun, the experientation. They completely embraced this and now we have some cool art for our bathroom walls.

like handmade

Kids_toys_pics_2

These are quite possibly the cutest kids gifts we have given recently.  I found them both at Target.  The knitted Mama and baby are by Latitude Enfant and sewn elephants are a wonderful kit by an adorable company called The Little Experience.  I love the concept of giving children a gift that they can make themselves and learn to sew with.  This is a bit off topic, but these items do evoke a certain something that I would like to develop myself.  I have been thinking of putting together little kits for my own daughters birthdays, containing and embroidery hoop, some natural linen and a bunch of different embroidery floss colors, along with needles, etc.  that they might create their own designs, like this.
