100 (+) member giveaway

I was going to announce that One Good Loaf is 100 members strong, but yesterday we topped that.  It's very exciting to see all of the beautiful photos (I've especially admired the amazing holiday breads) shared in the group pool.  So inspiring!

Now that the holidays are behind us, we in colder climates continue to focus on nourishing ourselves and our families through the remaining cold months. Here is a book to take you from winter to spring, with a basic bread primer, to herbed chicken pot pie, to a classic yellow layer cake that will grace your easter table.

     

The Art & Soul of Baking, by Cindy Mushet, is the latest addition to Sur la Table's cookbook series and was selected as the October '08 choice of the Gourmet Magazine Cookbook club. 

 

This is a beautifully photographed and written book with practical advice on baking ingredients and tools.  Thanks to the good people at Andrews McMeel publishing, we have a copy to giveaway this week to one of our group members.

try something new

    

Through the generousity of Melanie, at Lit*chick, one of our group members will recieve a copy of the wonderful book, How to be a Domestic Goddess, Baking and the Art of Comfort Cooking, by Nigella Lawson. 

This will be a random drawing from participants in the following challenge: try something new. 

Whether this is your first yeasted loaf, a new recipe or technique, the challenge for this giveaway is to try something entirely different with your baking that you  haven't done before.  This will be a random drawing from all category submissions; the degree of difficulty is not a factor.

To be elligable for the give-away you must post your 'something new' bread photo to the flickr pool before 4 pm (eastern standard time) Sunday night, November 16th - in the description line tell us what part of your submission is new to you.  

A week should give us all plenty of time to bake, take a photo and upload it to the flickr pool. The winner will be announced shortly after the challenge closes.

The group is always open to new members, and there is still time to join our online baking community and take part in the challenge.  To do so, you will need to establish a (free) flickr account, and then send a 'request to join' email via the group pool page.
