You know Christmas is growing near when ... the red cups are out. Maybe everybody else knows this already but it was like a sparkling holiday movie inside starbucks this morning. It reminded me of the opening credits of Elf.
After a cold morning handing out flyers and stuffing folders for our school's fall online auction the hot coffee was particularly good. It's the first morning I've needed a wool coat and that feels really good too. I miss this colder weather and I'm absolutely loving it.
This post by Hillary Lang has me all fired up for the holidays. As does, this post, from Modern Country. So lovely! And need I mention Ali's? Bring on the glogg!
Going into Halloween I had absolutely no intention of doing a special mini-book for the topic. But when I took a look at all the shots I got ... kids dressing themselves, not dressing themselves, me giving a small lecture about dressing yourself (ie. "you're old enough now to do some of these things yourself ...") I feel the need to put it into a little package. Plus, I've been wanting to try out a binding technique.
As a matter of fact, I didn't much like the picture of me giving that talk. Seeing myself in that preachy mindset is not fun. Glad I have the photo as a reminder. There's got to be a better way to get the information across. I'm keeping that picture for a page about myself, about things I want to change. I find parenting to be a constant adjustment to my own attitude. Just when you think you've got it down, the kids go ahead and change and I've haven't stayed a step ahead of them. One day maybe I'll remember this.
So ... that's three little books going on right now for me at various stages. Some of those chipboard pages and extra 6x6 pages are perched there on my red table (above) all ready to go. It's fun to have some things to be chipping away on like this in between other responsibilities.
Have a wonderful Thursday.
