As I go about book-marking 'favorites' from other's flickr photo-streams, it is almost like tearing ideas from magazine pages; an enormous visual delight. Here is a little bunch, collected over time and without conscious purpose, but apparently I want organization and color in our home. Oh boy do I ever.
If the weather holds this weekend I hope to paint a little nightstand and lamp combo for our girls room. Perhaps I can share that next week.

Also, thank you for your enthusiasm over the sweater set re-purposing. To address a few questions ...
1) I am hardly the person to provide a sewing tutorial, being a complete novice and all. This should give you all hope to just set about trying and see what comes of it. What little advice I have to offer was provided in the comments, but I'll repeat it here:
"It's all just trial and error, playing with fittings and making it up as I went along. I used a zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine (as advised by my Mom) to allow for stretch.
The mittens are cut from ends of each sleeve. The hat from the front side, and a (short) scarf from two 5" widths of the back, sewn together on the short side, lined with cotton knit.
It's an old Gap sweater from the thrift store. I picked up a couple (mostly wool) to shrink and felt for projects for a couple dollars a piece.
The flower is inspired by Heather Bailey's, found here. I cut it free-hand in five layers, added some loose petals, and a folded circle for the inside bud.
There's another hat in the works now. I have two daughters and well, you know how that goes."
2) I'm a strong believer is using colors and textures that you love, so that you love the results as well. I think had a sewn a test project on less than favorite fabric, I might be less than happy with the finished piece no matter how carefully stitched. You've got to get your excitement going, and the textiles do that for me.
3) There are a bunch people doing amazing things with sweaters and felted wool from whom I've gathered inspiration. I should call attention to both Lisa, of Lil Fish Studios, and Betz White, who has a new book, called Sewing Green, coming out very soon. Also see the 'made from recycled sweaters' group pool on flickr for endless ideas.
Happy weekend!
