Exacto blades are flying!
I've had a couple of emails as to whether I'm doing a December daily this year. (Thank you!) This is the first I've made anything since we moved. If you could see the state of our place you might wonder why and how I'm doing this, but I'm determined - - and I'm reveling in products in hand and playing with stories of the season.
A free download to make the St. Nicholas coins is here, and there's also a sheet with the Holy family for Christmas coins. I printed them on glossy photo paper, punched with my 1" and 1.5" circle punches, and adhered them over JFK and George Washington's faces (no offense ex-presidents) with glue dots.
Time constraints and lack of good light quality are the reasons I'm not posting each day. Also, I enjoy lingering over little adjustments as I like. No rush to finish just for the sake of dwindling daylight is liberating.
Three principals are guiding my decisions this year:
- Making the project itself is a form of tangible Advent prayer.
- Trust my intuition regarding textural embellishment. I don't like looking back on pages that feel disingenuous.
- Take advantage of the ease of page protectors. Adhering pages back to back has been the most time consuming part of putting my books together. I'm not doing it this time.
A post with full page views of the first section should be up sometime mid-week. Glad to be playing along!
