That's exactly what this is.
Four weeks into the school year and I am getting creative with morning incentives. Yesterday I kept thinking I had nothing in the house. No cereal, no bread for toast (yeah, probably not the best venue to be making that admission), but what I did have was ingredients and plenty of them.
I think in our day to day -- at least I know this is true of myself -- I sometimes forget that those pantry staples are the makings of everything we need.
Thanks to the beauty that is flickr, I remembered Heather's delicious image of homemade cinnamon rolls and scanned back through her entire photostream (a delight in and of itself) to find a link to the recipe. Well there wasn't one available, but the photo alone was the spark. After finding nothing suitable in my cookbooks a quick web search yielded several recipes and I landed on this one.
Making them was a pleasure. I used a bowl, a whisk and my hands to knead. A stand mixer wasn't necessary. I rolled out the elastic dough, spread with butter and the cinnamon/sugar mixture (omitting the nuts since none were available) sliced, covered and refrigerated overnight. This morning I woke early, brought them up to room temperature and sent a waft of cinnamon upstairs to the sleeping school girls. They made their way down without assistance. Said they smelled it from their beds. Success!
I doubled the batch for after school snacks.

Your cinnamon rolls are so so beautiful! Now I want to make some! :)
Oh, sorry there was no recipe, I always feel like I can't redistribute a recipe from a book unless I change it up a bit. But mine came from a Williams-Sonoma bread book and is quite good.
